The objects of Michael Poladjan are parodic symbols of political power, barbarous variations on the theme of the autocratic scepter and baton. Seen together, these objects seem like prized trophies from some ethnographic or archaeological expedition. But a closer examination reveals the absurd character of the artist's bricolage and the anarchism of his message. Poladjan interprets his scepters in the artistic system of different cultures and styles, burdening their aggressively phallic forms with a motley of degrading details.
